Description of plants

Evergreen, semi-shrub perennial up to 50 cm tall, with green or pale green shoots that are more or less purple or reddish in the upper part. The stem with branches is finely hairy, woody at the base, rounded or slightly firm in cross section. The leaves are narrow and small, glandularly protruding, arranged in tufts on round and hairy twigs. At the top of the twig, white, or rarely red, flowers with purple dots develop. The flowers are arranged in groups, usually 3 to 5, on a common stalk. It blooms from June to September. The plant has a pleasant, aromatic scent.

Use

It has a calming effect and is used to treat stomach and intestinal ailments, poor appetite, diarrhea, cramps, bloating, amoebae and worms, menstrual cramps, colds, to cause sweating, to strengthen male potency, to massage the scalp at the beginning of baldness. Heather is rich in essential oil that has an immunostimulating and toning effect on the whole organism. Use the essential oil in small doses and with great caution, otherwise it can damage the skin and mucous membranes of the digestive system. It is not recommended to take during pregnancy. It is a very honey plant.

Collection

The flowering plant and young spring twigs are collected. It has to be dried in a warm and airy place, in the shade. Store the dryed plant in a well-closed jar.
