Perennial shrub 30 to 60 cm tall, strong root and upright, quadrangular stem, woody in the lower part and herbaceous in the upper part. The leaves are narrow, elliptical, finely wrinkled, with a long petiole, arranged on a stalk opposite to eachother. Large dark purple flowers are gathered in spikes. It is very aromatic. It blooms from early May to June.
Sage has an anti-inflammatory effect, so it is recommended for pharyngitis, inflammation of internal organs and vaginal inflammation. It regulates sweating, cleanses the blood, strengthens the nerves and reduces bloating. It is ideal during puberty and menopause because it is an effective hormonal regulator. It is excellent for cleansing the liver, kidney disease and prevents night sweats. For internal use, sage must be boiled for 3 to 5 minutes.
